Marshalling CTE x Trunk2Tale

A New App to Support People Affected by Brain Injury

At Marshalling Brain Injuries Alliance we are committed to empowering people affected by traumatic brain injury (TBI), CTE, and other brain injury–related conditions — and their families — with practical tools, trusted information, and ongoing support. Today we are excited to share an important step forward in that mission: our collaboration with Trunk2Tale to develop a unique app designed to support people living with CTE and related conditions.

This innovative digital tool brings a new kind of support directly into the hands of those who need it, combining user-friendly design with meaningful features rooted in lived experience and clinical insight.

What Is the Trunk2Tale App?

The Trunk2Tale app is a digital platform developed to help people affected by brain injury record, organise, and reflect on their experiences — all in one secure, personal space.

Named with the idea that our memories and experiences form a “trunk” that holds our story, Trunk2Tale allows users to collect and connect key pieces of their lived journey — from symptoms and mood patterns to medical notes and personal reflections.

The app can be used to:

  • Track Symptoms and Mood: Monitor changes over time to spot patterns or triggers.
  • Record Daily Experiences: Journalling features allow users to capture how they’re feeling, when symptoms crop up, and what helps — or doesn’t.
  • Document Medical History: Keep all appointments, scans, and clinical notes in one place to support clearer conversations with healthcare providers.
  • Reflect and Share Safely: Personal reflections can help users make sense of their journey and, if they wish, share insights with clinicians, carers, or support networks.

By supporting self-reflection and pattern recognition, the app aims to give users greater awareness and agency in managing their brain health.

Why We Collaborated

People living with brain injury often face complex, overlapping challenges:

  • Symptoms that come and go
  • Difficulty remembering appointments or details
  • Challenges articulating changes to clinicians
  • The emotional weight of tracking progress day by day

Our team saw an opportunity to use digital technology to make this easier.

We teamed up with Trunk2Tale because their approach aligns with our core values: empowerment, compassion, and lived-experience insight. Together, we tailored the app to reflect the real needs of the brain injury community — especially those affected by CTE — making it both practical and personally meaningful.

How the App Supports People with CTE and Brain Injury

🧠 A Personal Record of Your Journey

Brain injuries often bring memory challenges. The Trunk2Tale app gives users a private space to store experiences, symptoms, and notes so they don’t have to rely on recall alone.

📈 Spot Patterns and Triggers

Tracking your symptoms over time can highlight patterns — for example, what makes cognitive fatigue worse or better. These insights can help both you and your clinicians make more informed decisions.

🗣️ Better Conversations with Clinicians

When appointments come around, having organised records can make discussions with neurologists, therapists, or GPs smoother and more effective.

📅 Emotional Support Through Reflection

Mindful journaling and reflection features can help users understand emotional responses, celebrate small wins, and feel more grounded in change.

🤝 A Tool for Families and Carers

With permission, partners, family members, and carers can use the app to better understand day-to-day experiences, helping them offer more informed support.

What This Means for the Brain Injury Community

The Trunk2Tale app is more than just digital software — it is a supportive companion for people navigating complex brain health challenges. It reflects a growing recognition that managing brain injury involves both clinical support and personalised personal insight.

By collaborating on this app, Marshalling CTE and Trunk2Tale are:

  • Bridging the gap between lived experience and digital innovation
  • Offering a practical tool for everyday life, not just clinical settings
  • Helping people feel more in control of their journey
  • Strengthening connections between users and their care teams

How to Access the App

The app is available via the dedicated Trunk2Tale-Marshalling Connection platform. It can be accessed by anyone interested in using it to support their brain injury journey.

At Marshalling Brain Injuries Alliance, we believe that knowledge, connection, and tools make a real difference in people’s lives. Our collaboration with Trunk2Tale is designed to put meaningful support right where people need it most — in their everyday experiences.

We are proud to be part of a solution that helps people track their story, understand their brain health, and live with greater confidence and clarity.
