Marshalling Brain Injuries Alliance is a Community Interest Company (CIC) supporting individuals and families affected by traumatic brain injury (TBI), Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), and neurodegenerative conditions linked to repetitive head impacts.
We provide:
- Free peer support communities (Facebook & WhatsApp)
- Advocacy and awareness around concussion and long-term brain health
- Education on the link between brain injury and mental health
- Access to holistic treatments such as neurofeedback
- Suicide prevention through connection and informed support
We are now seeking a Volunteer Director to join our existing Board and help us grow strategically, strengthen governance, and secure sustainable funding.
About the Role
This is a strategic, governance-level role within a growing CIC.
You will work alongside the existing Directors to:
- Shape long-term organisational strategy
- Support expansion of our peer support and treatment funding programmes
- Strengthen our funding and sustainability plans
- Help secure grants, partnerships and sponsorship
- Ensure strong governance and compliance
- Act as an ambassador for the organisation
This role requires approximately 2–4 hours per week, including preparation and attendance at Board meetings.
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is:
- Deeply passionate about suicide prevention, mental health and brain injury
- Committed to raising awareness of the long-term effects of concussion and repetitive head impacts
- Motivated to support a growing, purpose-driven organisation
Experience
You must have:
- Management-level experience (senior leadership, board, or equivalent responsibility)
- Either lived or professional experience in brain injury, mental health, or suicide prevention
- Skills (one or more of the following):
- Finance and financial oversight
- Fundraising, grants and income generation
- Legal and governance knowledge
- Safeguarding expertise
- Strategic planning and organisational growth

Governance & Responsibilities
As a CIC Director, you will:
- Act in the best interests of the organisation and its community purpose
- Contribute to strategic decision-making
- Support financial sustainability and compliance
- Promote transparency and accountability
- Uphold safeguarding and confidentiality standards
This is a voluntary role but one with meaningful responsibility and impact.
Requirements
- Must be UK-based
- Able to commit 2–4 hours per week
- Provide two UK-based references
- Willing to sign an NDA
- Willing to undergo a DBS check if required
